In the 1800's, Philadelphus Jeyes invented, produced and sold his medications, remedies and healthy culinary delights across town and country, closely guarding his handwritten recipes from prying eyes.
With the encouragement of BBC Radio Northampton, the family researched the early records, discovered the recipe and with the culinary expertise of Steve Reid they, together recreated Jeyes's Northamptonshire Sauce, launching in October 2020. Word began to spread, the story had captured the imagination of the County, at that moment we knew we had turned a little bit of history into something special.
Our award-winning gluten free sauce has been sent near and far, used in households and pubs across the County, sold in delis and farm shops and featured on the Channel 4 series – Aldi’s Next Big Thing.
Our aim is to establish Jeyes’s Northamptonshire Sauce as a household name and to earn its place in every sauce cupboard in the UK – that’s approximately 27 million sauce cupboards!
